We have three full-time, experienced veterinarians dedicated to your pet's health.
Dr. Julian Phillips, Owner
Veterinary School: Auburn University, in Auburn, Alabama
Days Off: Tuesdays
Dr. Phillips is originally from the small town of Wadley, Alabama, about 90 miles southeast of Birmingham. He received his DVM degree in 2002 from Auburn University. Shortly after graduation, he moved to Austin and has been in love with the city ever since. In 2005, Dr. Phillips began working at our practice as an associate veterinarian and purchased the clinic from Dr. Rhyne two years later. He enjoys the variety of duties being a veterinarian offers, but is particularly interested in surgery and internal medicine.
One of his favorite pastimes is motorcycling. In addition, playing the banjo and listening to live music are other passions of his. Just look around at SXSW, ACL, Old Settlers Music Festival, or any of the numerous music venues in and around Austin, and you just might bump into him.
During the fall - it's college football time! Dr. Phillips avidly follows his undergrad alma mater, the University of Alabama. He works every other 6-8pm shift on Monday nights, and rotates Saturdays with Dr. Harrington.
Dr. Lisa Harrington
Veterinary School: University of Florida in Gainesville
Days Off: Thursdays
Dr. Harrington is an Austin transplant. She is originally from a small town on the east coast of Florida known as Satellite Beach. She grew up on the beach, watching NASA shuttles take flight and sea turtles lay their eggs.
She went to the University of Florida for both her Bachelor and DVM degrees, and is a Gator through and through. She is also an avid Miami Dolphins fan. She moved to Austin immediately after vet school in 2010 where she had been practicing at a corporate veterinary hospital before starting with Northwest Veterinary Hospital in January of 2015.
In her spare time, she loves hiking, traveling, live music, and spending time with her husband, John.
They have three "fur" babies, and one "scale" baby - a Great Dane named Meursault, a Doberman named 21, a cat named Lilly, and a Steppe Runner lizard named Mark.
She is particularly fond of surgery and internal medicine, and will gladly see small "pocket" pets such as rabbits, guinea pigs, and ferrets, as well as reptiles.
She works every other 6-8pm shift
on Monday nights, and rotates Saturdays with Dr. Phillips.
Dr. Robert Rhyne

Dr. Rhyne was raised on the Texas coast in Corpus Christi. After graduation he practiced in Florida at Clearwater Animal Clinic for six years before returning to Texas in 1992. In 2007, he sold the practice to Dr. Phillips and continues to work full-time for us. He especially enjoys surgery and ophthalmology.
He and his wife, Patricia have two children: Naomi, who lives in Dallas, and Spencer, who is here in Austin. They share their home with a sheltie named Skittles, and two cats, Phoebe and Charlie. Between saltwater fishing, mountain biking, and snow skiing, Dr. Rhyne stays very active! He owns and restores classic cars such as a 1966 Impala SS Coupe, 1968 Ford Galaxy 500 convertible and a 1975 Pontiac Gran Ville convertible.
